From Bratislava we continued by train to Budapest for Tokaji, beautiful views, more outdoor cafes, the market, and a conference at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences for Jen.
During a high tension day during the Central European University's battle over accreditation with the Hungarian government (CEU's US-accredited programs have been forced out of Hungary and all Gender Studies programs have lost Hungarian accreditation), we had a student from CEU's Gender Studies program babysit for us. Hazel had a great time with him and we got to have a reasonably-priced Michelin-starred dinner at Borkonyha followed by drinks at Gresham Palace. We were fancy.
While Jen was attending the conference, Garth treated Hazel to the best day ever again: a Ferris wheel ride followed by gelato shaped into a flower. She documented this extensively in her travel journal.
